Learning Disabilities Association

As of December 31st 2014, LDANYC has closed it's doors.

A Message from the President of the Board:

It is with great sadness that I announce that, effective December 15, 2014, we have initiated a close-down plan for the Learning Disabilities Association of NYC, an organization that I have been proud to be affiliated with for more than 20 years.

For the last 25 years, LDA NYC has led the charge in fighting to build a more understanding and accommodating world for people with learning disabilities. More recently, we have used our resources to draw attention to and improve the lives of transitioning teens and adults with learning disabilities by offering our clients innovative clinical approaches, adaptive assistance technology and work readiness skills training.

LDA NYC has functioned largely without endowments or large institutional funding, relying mostly on small donations, our clients’ ability to pay for services on a sliding scale and some fee-based services that we have provided for the state and city. In the end, we were unable to attract the kind of big dollar funding needed to sustain our unique one-on-one model. We still strongly believe that the need for such services in New York City is there, and growing, and that the efficacy of our approach is unmatched in outcomes for the clients we serve.

I want to thank our incredibly dedicated and talented staff for all of their efforts during the last years. I also want to extend my gratitude to those individuals and institutions that have recognized the exceptional work we do and contributed both time and money.

Finally, I want to thank our clients, past and present. It has been our great privilege to work with you over the years. As part of our close-down plan, our goal is to find alternative help for as many of our current clients as we can.

LDA NYC will continue to function through December 31, 2014. Thank you, again, to all – staff, supporters, donors, clients – who believed in our mission and helped improve the lives of those with learning disabilities. Please email LDA NYC with questions or comments regarding the organization at info@ldanyc.org.
